A great turnout on a beautiful day at the YMCA Bucks County Strong 5K & 1 Mile Fun Run on Saturday, May 10th, the fourth event of the seven in the Bucks 5K Series. Over 400 registered for the 5K and 52 for the 1 Mile Fun Run.

Alex Izewski was the overall male winner, he smashed the competition as he bested the old course record by over a minute, cruising in at 16:22.

Kellie Shimer was the overall female winner in a highly competitive female race busting through the 19:00 minute barrier, finishing in 18:59.

This must be the year for course records. Some of the records are being broken by mere seconds. Which goes to show that old saying, every second counts, is really true.

In the age-graded master’s competition, Nancy Smith had an amazing age grading of 91.1%. Last year for the same race, she had 90.4% (above 90% is world-class). Not a stranger to the age-graded masters is Steve Gourley with a score of 84.2% (80-89% is national class). Such a great accomplishment.

Race directors Nicole Bandura, Justin Grand, and 100 volunteers were busy for months making sure that everyone had a memorable time from the runners, walkers, spectators, and sponsors. The event was truly special with the large finisher medal and the flowers celebrating Mother's Day.
