Neither Tyler State Park hills, nor the gusting winds kept runners from participating in the Bookin' for Lookin' race on Sunday, April 27th.
Despite the windy day, there were 3 overall course records set. Congratulations to Emily Sherrard (19:30) and Steve Gourley (17:36) for setting the 5K overall course records. Emily bested the female record by 50 seconds and Steve beat the male record by 15 seconds. It was nice to see Steve, a long-time series participant and multi-year overall male winner, back on the course. Congratulations to Kellie Shimer for demolishing her own 10K overall course record of 42:58 from last year to 41:19 this year. And although it wasn’t a course record, the overall male 10K winner was Suryansh Yadav in a very respectable time of 37:30.
There were 13 age group course records for the 5K - Congratulations to each and every one:

It is apparent that some runners like to be challenged beyond the 5K and signed up for the Bookin' for Lookin' 10K. Registration for the 10K more than doubled as compared to last year.
In the age-graded master’s competition for the 5K, Gert Freas is 3 for 3 so far in the series. She was the female winner with a score of 87.5%. Last year’s series age-graded master’s winner Bob Boland took home the male age-graded masters award yesterday with a score of 79.9%. The age-graded masters 10K winners were Ann Krisher (78.4%) and James Larson (69.5%). Well done!
Race directors Ann Marie and Mark made sure every aspect was covered so we could all enjoy a successful event. The long sleeve shirts were a hit. Water, bagels, bananas, WOW cookies, and Planet Smoothie were plentiful and crowd pleasers.
Thank you to all of the sponsors and volunteers! This race could not happen without your continued support. We have 4 more races as part of the Series. Sign up for one, two or all 4. Why wait, today would be a great day to sign up while the prices are still low.
YMCA Bucks County Strong - Saturday, May 10th: What a great way for the family to be together, running a race on Mother's Day Weekend.
Doylestown 5K Race - Saturday, May 24th
Yardley 5K - Sunday, June 1st: This race is new to the Series this year and is a great way to experience Yardley and the Delaware Canal Towpath. The towpath is a nice and peaceful place to run, walk and explore.
BCRR Let's Be Frank 5K - Wednesday, June 11th: This is the last race of the series and has so much to offer. A night run so you aren't fighting the heat of the day. For those 21 and over, there will be a nice cold beer or mocktail when you finish. The Series awards will also be given out after the race is complete. So for those that are in contention for a Series award, this might be your last chance to earn some points.
