| My Bio...... I am 51 years old and I was born in Doylestown
Hospital. I am divorced and the mother of 3 grown children -
daughter 31(married and lives in the Poconos), son 27 (single
and lives in Doylestown), son 24 (married and lives in Sellersville)
and Grandmother (Grami) to 2 wonderful grandsons - Jamie age
3 and Jeremy age 2. My daughter-in -law, Raina, is a member
of the BWRG and brings along grandson, Jeremy (the hat, cute
sunglasses & spray waterbottle) in his jogger. I have worked
15 years, fulltime, for the Bucks Co. Intermediate Unit and
8 years, partime, as a Personal Trainer/Fitness Trainer for
the Central Bucks Family YMCA. I played with running while raising
my children and started actively running/racing at 38 when I
started to date, Skip, my wonderful significant other. There
were no support or "getting started" groups to help me; Skip
was my coach/mentor. I started with 1 Mile Fun Runs, progressed
quickly to 5K distance and then to 5 miles and on to a 10K shortly
after age 39. Skip bought me a bike and I did a few Biathlons
(run, bike, run). I increased my distances to 10 miles and 15
K events. I then got into the pool to renew my swimming at age
40 and complete my first triathlon at age 41. I have successfully
completed about 100 triathlons - with Ironman Hawaii as my goal
in a few years. Age 42 my first half-marthon and on I went;
age 44 my first marathon; age 48 first half- ironman triathon.
I am now training for my 13th marathon the Wineglass Marathon
in Corning, NY, October 7th and I have a goal of qualifying
for Boston with a 4:05. This is my 4th summer to assist as a
mentor to the BWRG and I love it!! I have also mentored a "0-5K"
group at the YMCA. I have chaired and co-chaired many local
5k races; served on the Doylestown Township Park & Recreation
Board, Okotberfest Committee, Bucks 5K Race Series Board and
other community endeavors. I love my home, my family, my jobs,
my community and I truly love helping people -- I LOVE THE NEW
AND REBORN RUNNERS and helping them get started. Running (swimming,
biking, and exercise) has helped me survive a mountain of obstacles,
injuries and roadblocks. I have developed the greatest group
of friends and a wonderful support team through these efforts.
I also love to garden, cook, sew, spend time with my family.
I am certified in Personal Training, Fitness / Strength training;
CPR; and First Aid. My guide for living is DETERMINATION - NEVER
GIVE UP AND ALWAYS SMILE AND BE HAPPY and Kind.
